RONDO BENNINGTON MUSIC FESTIVAL takes place annually in Southern Vermont, famous for its natural beauty and healthy environment. The residence of the festival is Southern Vermont College, located in Historic Bennington on over 370 acres of private land. It is very close to the center of Bennington where there are shopping facitilies, a hospital, etc. This is the ideal place for musical and recreational activities. The Festival's informal atmosphere is established in a big musical family of students and the faculty helps to keep alive a unique spirit of creativity.
The Festival provides participants with rooms in the Festival's dormitory buildings, bedding, and three meals a day. In addition, participants have the use of the College Gymnasium, Library, Internet Service, and Laundry. The College provides a 24 hour security service and individual telephones are available for an additional cost.
An efficient daily schedule harmoniously combines a working discipline with personal freedom. Two lessons of major instrument, two lessons of chamber music and all performances are carefully planned. Daily Schedule
Performances included a series of four public concerts at the Everett Mansion, located on the college site, given by gifted students and faculty from the Julliard, Manhattan and Mannes Schools of Music. Many of the musicians are winners of Young Artists Competitions and Gold Medallists of International Competitions.
As a teacher at the Manhattan School of Music and renowned international soloist, Albert Markov guides young musicians in their studies, whether they aspire to be professional or non-professional musicians. Mr Markov has an unwavering philosophy of self-improvement that he continually encourages his students to adopt. His philosophy stresses the importance of general musical and cultural education and balancing study with recreational activities and socializing. Every year, the students and faculty of the festival visit the Clark Art Institute (Massachusetts) in an effort to promote cultural awareness and other forms of art.
In the summer of 2006, performances are being arranged at two venues at The Bennington Museum and the Southern Vermont College, Everett Mansion.
